What We’ll Work On

Two hours each week with rotating skill stations (every 15–20 minutes):

  • Throwing & Mechanics Routine: Foundational arm care and efficient movement patterns.
  • Catching Footwork & Fundamentals: Framing, blocking, quick‑release drills.
  • Daily Defense: Pro‑style spring‑training reps.
  • Bullpens, Grips & Pickoffs: Live mound and flat‑ground work.
  • Bulldog Mindset: Confidence, focus, and mental toughness.
  • Battery‑Mates: Pitchers & catchers working together (college/pro style format).
  • Strength & Movement: Age‑appropriate conditioning, baseball homework, and game IQ.

Led by Erik Lovdahl & the LPA Player Development Staff. LPA brings decades of experience developing youth baseball and softball players across the Twin Cities with a focus on fundamentals, positive energy, and mental skills. Programs emphasize teaching the complete ballplayer—on and off the field.

We never want cost to be a barrier. Need‑based scholarships are available. During registration, select “Scholarship Request” and be sure to fill out the Scholarship Application. All athletes are welcome—this program is designed to be supportive and fun for all experience levels.

FAQ

Is this for baseball or softball?
Both. Instruction covers universal fundamentals and fastpitch‑specific skills. We especially encourage girls to join and build their fastpitch softball skills.
How are ages handled?
Players 8–15 train at the same time with on‑site groupings: 8–10, 11–12, and 13–15. Stations and reps are adjusted by age/ability.
What should athletes bring?
Glove, clean gym shoes, water bottle, and (if you have them) catcher’s gear. We’ll provide baseballs/softballs and training equipment.
Who’s running the training?
Lovdahl Pitching Academy runs the full program and guarantees fun and fundamentals.
What if I’m brand new to pitching/catching?
Perfect! The program is progressive and supportive. Newer players get fundamentals and confidence; experienced players get refinement and challenge.
